Overview

  • The Centre approved a revised cast-in-situ method for the final 110-metre stretch of the Pragati Maidan underpass after securing MoHUA and DDA clearance.
  • Engineers reduced the underpass width from 11.5 metres to 6.25 metres and height from 5.5 metres to 3.9 metres, limiting it to two light-vehicle lanes and assigning heavy vehicles to the higher carriageway.
  • Monsoon flooding and failed box-pushing under live rail lines sank precast segments in 2023, prompting consultations with IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay and CBRI.
  • Work on the Nand Nagri T-Junction flyover resumed after tree-cutting approvals, with officials targeting a two-month timeline and a mid-September inauguration.
  • Once completed, the underpass will ease daily traffic jams on Ring Road and Bhairon Marg, and the flyover will deliver a signal-free corridor on Mangal Pandey Road.
