Centre Clears ₹200-Crore SASCI Loan to Uttarakhand for Mining Reforms

Funds will be used to advance minor-mineral reforms tied to the State Mining Readiness Index.

Overview

  • The Finance Ministry approved and released the special-assistance loan for FY 2025–26 under SASCI following a state proposal and recommendations from the Mines Ministry.
  • The allocation is designated to complete reforms in the minor-minerals segment and to raise Uttarakhand’s standing on the State Mining Readiness Index.
  • Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the support will drive transparency, technology adoption, environmental safeguards and employment-focused practices in the sector.
  • The state reports e-auctions, satellite-based monitoring, stricter compliance and more transparent lot allocation, and it claims mining revenue rose from ₹300 crore to ₹1,200 crore.
  • Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan directed the launch of a State Pragati review process with monthly meetings from January 2026 and asked departments to finish EFC/DFC formalities and PM SHRI school facility upgrades by March 2026.
