Overview
- The Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee, chaired by Housing Secretary Srinivas Katikithala in Delhi, approved 1.41 lakh additional houses, taking PMAY-U 2.0 sanctions past 10 lakh.
- Of the 1,40,942 new homes, 76,976 are for women, 13,509 for senior citizens, seven for transgender persons, and allocations include 29,131 for SC, 6,561 for ST, and 74,291 for OBC beneficiaries.
- Projects span 14 states and UTs, including Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Haryana, Odisha, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
- MoHUA urged states to site projects where infrastructure and public transport already exist, accelerate construction and occupancy, hold loan fairs for beneficiaries, and strengthen geo-tagging and digital monitoring.
- Since 2015, more than 95.51 lakh houses have been completed under PMAY-U, with combined PMAY-U and PMAY-U 2.0 sanctions now exceeding 122 lakh.
