Centre Clears 1.41 Lakh More PMAY-U 2.0 Homes, Taking Approvals Past 10 Lakh

Officials directed states to site projects where infrastructure enables faster completion with quicker occupancy.

Overview

  • At a CSMC meeting chaired by MoHUA secretary Srinivas Katikithala, 140,942 houses were sanctioned across 14 states and Union territories.
  • Tranche allocations include 76,976 houses for women, 13,509 for senior citizens and seven for transgender beneficiaries, with 29,131 for SC, 6,561 for ST and 74,291 for OBC households.
  • The ministry pressed for projects in areas with roads, public transport and connectivity to ensure ease of living and timely take-up of finished units.
  • States were advised to organise loan fairs and strengthen digital monitoring, including geo-tagging, to accelerate grounding, completion and occupancy.
  • PMAY-U 2.0 approvals now exceed 10 lakh, taking combined PMAY-U and 2.0 sanctions above 122 lakh, while 95.51 lakh homes have been completed under the original mission.
