Overview

• The Union Government has sanctioned an additional 3.76 lakh houses for Assam under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin (PMAY-G), covering nearly all identified beneficiaries in the state.
• A virtual Griha Pravesh ceremony marked the completion and handover of 55,000 pucca houses to beneficiaries across rural Assam.
• Assam has completed 20 lakh houses under PMAY-G, with 26 lakh beneficiaries enrolled as of March 2025, showcasing one of the highest completion rates in India.
• The 'Lakhimi Mistri' initiative was launched to train rural women in masonry, empowering them with new employment opportunities in construction.
• Union Minister Chouhan also inaugurated 21 Knowledge Centres under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund, providing farmers with resources and agricultural support.
