Centre Approves ₹2,006.40 Crore for Himachal Pradesh Disaster Recovery

This funding taps the NDRF recovery window to finance large-scale infrastructure rebuilding across the state.

Overview

  • A high-level committee chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah endorsed the ₹2,006.40 crore assistance for post-disaster restoration.
  • The allocation includes a ₹1,504.80 crore central share from the NDRF recovery and reconstruction window, adding to ₹633.73 crore released in December 2023.
  • The funds will be deployed to rebuild roads, bridges, public buildings and other infrastructure damaged in the 2023 floods and landslides.
  • BJP national president J P Nadda expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah for expediting support to disaster-hit communities.
  • As part of FY 2024-25 disbursements, the government also released over ₹20,264.40 crore under the SDRF, ₹5,160.76 crore under the NDRF and approved ₹7,253.51 crore in mitigation projects.
