Centre and Delhi Unveil ₹9,000 Crore, 45-Point Plan to Revive Yamuna

Overview

  • Launch of the joint mission chaired by Amit Shah and CM Rekha Gupta targets river revival by next year under a ₹9,000 crore, 45-point roadmap.
  • The Central Pollution Control Board will re-verify 360 drains and conduct drone surveys of 22 major drains to map 67 pollution hotspots.
  • Delhi’s sewage treatment capacity must double to 1,500 MGD by 2028 with mandatory third-party quality testing to block untreated discharge.
  • The Delhi Pollution Control Committee has been directed to operate in action mode to clamp down on industrial effluent violations.
  • The plan increases funding for the National Mission for Clean Ganga and mandates reservoir development, borewell regulation and coordination with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
