Overview
- Between April and October 2025, the Mumbai Division detected 9.63 lakh ticketless or irregular travel cases and recovered Rs 40.59 crore.
- CR says detections are less than half the 22.09 lakh cases logged in the same period last year, when Rs 124.36 crore was collected.
- In October 2025 alone, 1.34 lakh cases yielded Rs 6.16 crore, with second-class suburban coaches contributing the vast majority.
- Second-class compartments accounted for 6,98,248 cases and Rs 33.69 crore during the seven-month period, with smaller shares from first class, AC locals, fare differences and unbooked luggage.
- A dedicated AC Local Ticket Checking Squad, reachable via WhatsApp (7208819987), averages about 368 detections and Rs 1.19 lakh recovered per day, while RPF booked 8,184 offenders in October and expanded safety measures including CCTV and Emergency Talk Back systems in 788 ladies’ coaches.
