Central Railway Renames Navi Mumbai’s Seawoods-Darave Station to Seawoods-Darave-Karave

The change follows a state request after Survey of India clearance.

Overview

  • The updated name is now appearing on tickets, digital displays and passenger information systems across the Harbour line, according to Central Railway.
  • The alphabetical station code has changed from SWDV to SWDK, while the numerical code 01827117 remains unchanged.
  • Railway divisions in Mumbai, Bhusaval, Nagpur, Solapur and Pune have been told to update reservation databases, NTES and ticketing systems.
  • Physical signboards will be replaced after internal approvals and fabrication, with new boards to carry standardised spellings in Marathi, Hindi and English.
  • Officials said adding Karave corrects an omission, as Seawoods was developed on land from both Darave and Karave, with the formal renaming notified on November 29.
