Central Railway Limits Platform Tickets at 13 Stations, Adds Specials, Cancels Sunday Mega Block for Mahaparinirvan Diwas

The ministry is also expanding permanent passenger holding areas ahead of the 2026 festival season.

  • Temporary platform-ticket sales are halted December 5–7 at CSMT and Dadar, with December 5–6 limits at Bhusaval, Nashik Road, Manmad, Jalgaon, Akola, Shegaon, Pachora, Badnera, Malkapur, Chalisgaon and Nagpur.
  • Central Railway says the step aims to manage Mahaparinirvan Diwas crowds and ensure safer passenger movement on platforms.
  • People assisting senior citizens, ailing passengers, children, illiterate persons and women unable to travel alone remain eligible to buy platform tickets.
  • Twelve suburban special trains are operating overnight on December 5–6 between ParelKalyan and KurlaPanvel, with stops at all stations.
  • The weekly mega block on December 7 is cancelled on the CSMTKalyan Main Line and CSMTPanvel Harbour, and regular Sunday services will run.
