Overview
- Central Railway will run intensified ticket checks across its network from October 1 to October 31, 2026, covering trains and stations during the busy festival travel period.
- Officials warned that if the prescribed original identity proof is not produced, all passengers on a single booking may be treated as travelling without a valid ticket and face the minimum ₹500 penalty set under the Jan Vishwas Act, 2026.
- The exercise will focus on tickets issued under concessional fares, specified reservation quotas, railway passes and the authenticity of unreserved tickets to stop fraudulent use of benefits.
- Ticket examiners will use the TTE App where required and will accept standard original photo IDs such as Aadhaar, passport, voter ID, PAN card and driving licence; E-Pass and PTO holders must have their pass exchanged for travel authority before boarding.
- Passengers are being urged to carry prescribed original documents and cooperate with staff, and the drive could reduce revenue leakage but may slow boarding for groups who lack proper ID during the festival surge.
