Central Railway Halts Platform Ticket Sales at 13 Stations Dec. 5–7

The measure aims to ease crowding for Mahaparinirvan Diwas by restricting non-essential platform access.

Overview

  • Sales are paused at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Dadar from December 5 to 7, with Bhusaval and Nagpur division stations under restrictions from December 5 to 6 across Bhusaval, Nashik Road, Manmad, Jalgaon, Akola, Shegaon, Pachora, Badnera, Malkapur, Chalisgaon, and Nagpur.
  • Exemptions permit platform tickets for those accompanying elderly or ailing passengers, children, illiterate travelers, and women unable to travel alone, in line with Railway Board guidelines.
  • To support late-night travel, Central Railway will run 12 suburban special trains on the midnight of December 5–6 between Parel–Kalyan and KurlaPanvel with all-stops service.
  • Officials said the restrictions are intended to keep platforms clear for safe boarding and deboarding during the expected influx of devotees.
  • Separately, the Ministry of Railways is pursuing permanent passenger holding areas at about 75 additional stations with a target before the 2026 festival season following a pilot at New Delhi.
