Overview
- Trials in the Mumbai Division were completed on September 28 between Somatne, Apta and Jite on the Panvel–Roha section.
- Central Railway says it is the first zonal railway to finish KAVACH loco trials across Mumbai, Bhusawal, Nagpur, Pune and Solapur within six months of awarding the work order in March 2025.
- The programme covers roughly 4,000 route kilometres, with three priority stations per division installed and validated during the testing phase.
- Onboard equipment fitment is underway at the Bhusawal and Kalyan loco sheds, with 730 locomotives sanctioned for the first phase.
- An integrated control centre was inaugurated at Bhusawal on September 4 and around 3,000 personnel have been trained on the indigenous ATP that enforces movement authority and speed limits using radio‑linked signalling data.
