Central Railway Begins Overnight Blocks Across Mumbai Lines From Tonight

Rail officials say the timed outages enable safety‑critical infrastructure upgrades across key corridors.

Overview

  • Harbour and Trans‑Harbour services between Belapur and Panvel will be suspended from 11:45 pm on November 22 to 11:45 am on November 23 for turnout works at Panvel, with locals curtailed, cancellations listed and first/last trains adjusted.
  • A KasaraKhardi block from 10:40 pm on November 22 to 7:40 am on November 23 will commission electronic interlocking at Umbermali, prompting regulated timings, short‑terminations and authority working for select long‑distance trains.
  • An 11‑day nightly block on the KarjatBadlapur stretch through December 3 (roughly 2:00–3:30 am) will facilitate flyover girder installation, with the 12:12 am CSMT–Karjat and 2:30 am Karjat–CSMT locals cancelled and several expresses diverted or briefly halted.
  • Special PanvelKalamboli blocks tied to the new coaching complex run into December 3, affecting around‑midnight long‑distance services with selected trains regulated, diverted via KarjatKalyanVasai Road and some departures rescheduled.
  • On Sunday, a daytime mega block between Thane and Kalyan from 10:40 am to 3:40 pm will slow suburban trains and route express services over fifth and sixth lines, and Central Railway has urged passengers to plan journeys accordingly.
