Central Government Mobilizes Expert Team as Himachal Monsoon Disruptions Persist

Overview

  • An Inter-Ministerial Central Team concluded its on-site damage survey in Himachal from July 18–21 and will submit its report to the Ministry of Home Affairs shortly
  • A multi-sectoral central team of specialists from NDMA, CBRI Roorkee, IITM Pune, IIT Indore and a geologist has been ordered to evaluate vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Rescue and relief operations continue under red and orange rainfall alerts with 13 NDRF teams supported by Army and Air Force units
  • State Emergency Operation Centre data shows 142 roads remain blocked, 40 water supply schemes disrupted and 26 power transformers offline, hampering mobility and essential services
  • A high-level committee chaired by Amit Shah approved ₹2,006.40 crore for recovery and reconstruction, with ₹451.44 crore and ₹198.80 crore already released from central and state disaster funds
