Central Delhi Traffic Curbs Today for ‘Vande Mataram’ 150th Anniversary at Indira Gandhi Stadium

An expected turnout of about 11,000 people is set to strain approaches to the Indira Gandhi Stadium.

Overview

  • Delhi Traffic Police will regulate and divert movement from 5 am to 2 pm on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg at ITO, Mahatma Gandhi Marg/Ring Road, Indraprastha Marg, Vikas Marg, Secretariat Road and Velodrome Road.
  • Additional stretches flagged for congestion include links around Rajghat, Shanti Van Crossing, Bhairon Marg, Geeta Colony and IP flyovers, Saleem Garh Bypass, W Point, Delhi Gate and Power House Road.
  • About 11,000 invitees are expected to arrive in roughly 1,000 cars and 300 buses for the Ministry of Culture programme.
  • Stadium access is restricted to designated gates: 1, 2, 3, 7 and 8 for approaches from the east, and 19, 21, 22 and 23 for approaches from the west.
  • Parking is barred on adjoining corridors, with towing and legal action announced for violations, and commuters are advised to plan trips and follow Delhi Traffic Police channels for live updates.
