Central Delhi SUV Driver in Fatal Pavement Crash Faces Narcotics Charges

Police recovered multiple psychotropic substances and cash from the Mahindra Thar, prompting parallel negligence and NDPS investigations

Overview

  • On August 10, a speeding Mahindra Thar veered onto the pavement near Gate 3 of Talkatora Stadium and struck two men sleeping there
  • Both victims were rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and were later declared dead, one identified as 35-year-old Sujesh Kshetri
  • Forensic teams found a bag in the SUV containing cocaine, LSD, methamphetamine, cannabis derivatives, charas, flavored tobacco and over ₹25,000 in cash
  • Driver Ashish Bachchas was arrested for rash driving and negligent homicide and has been additionally booked under sections 20, 21, 22 and 25 of the NDPS Act
  • Authorities have impounded the vehicle, are awaiting the driver’s medical and toxicology reports and are probing the supply chain after he claimed the narcotics belonged to someone else
