Central Bank Staff Union Defends BC as Federal Police Take Key Depositions in Banco Master Probe

The union warns that politicizing the case to promote PEC 65/2023 would erode the monetary authority’s public-law footing.

The Federal Police is taking depositions today from Daniel Vorcaro, Paulo Henrique Costa and BC supervision director Ailton de Aquino Santos, who is not a target according to Valor.
After the testimony, investigators will decide on a face-to-face confrontation requested by STF minister Dias Toffoli, who ordered confidentiality for the Master case.
The Central Bank staff union (Sinal) issued a note rejecting efforts to drag the BC into political-electoral disputes or to stage conflict with the Supreme Court.
The union affirmed full confidence in the integrity and technical quality of BC employees and said explanations will be provided to authorities in the appropriate venues.
Sinal denounced attempts to use the episode to promote PEC 65/2023, warning that removing the BC from public law would create legal uncertainty and weaken staff protections.
