CENTCOM Launches Rapid Task Force to Deliver Uncrewed and Counter‑UAS Capabilities Within 60 Days

Joy Shanaberger will lead the REJTF to align service experiments with fast fielding under Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s directive.

Overview

  • The Rapid Employment Joint Task Force is stood up to fast-track novel capabilities to deployed forces across CENTCOM’s area of responsibility.
  • The team will pull from existing efforts by Army TF 39, Navy TF 59, Air Force TF 99 and SOCOM TF 179 to avoid stove-piped development.
  • CENTCOM says the task force will concentrate on three lines of effort focused on capability, software and technology diplomacy.
  • The REJTF roster will include specialists in resourcing, evaluations, information systems, data integration, acquisition, integration and logistics.
  • The announcement follows the U.S.-Saudi Red Sands counter‑drone exercise, where more than 300 personnel evaluated 20 systems at the Shamal‑2 Range.
