Overview

• Researchers published Centaur in Nature on July 2, 2025, and released its underlying model and Psych-101 dataset for public research.
• Centaur was trained on more than 10 million human choices from 160 psychology experiments and outperformed Llama plus 14 cognitive and statistical models in 31 of 32 tasks.
• The model demonstrated zero-shot generalization by accurately predicting human decisions in completely novel scenarios it had never encountered during training.
• The team is now analyzing Centaur’s internal decision-making patterns by aligning its neural activations with human brain scans.
• Future efforts will extend the dataset’s demographic and psychological diversity and embed transparency and ethical oversight in Centaur’s applications.
