Former Celtics coach Ime Udoka returned to Boston as the coach of the Houston Rockets, marking his first game in TD Garden since his dismissal from the Celtics for an inappropriate workplace relationship.
The Celtics defeated the Rockets 145-113, improving their home record to 19-0, a franchise record for the start of a season.
Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, who were mentored by Udoka, combined for 59 points and 14 rebounds in the Celtics' victory.
Udoka's dismissal led to Joe Mazzulla taking over as Celtics coach, under whom the team has flourished and taken the top spot in the NBA this year.
Despite the circumstances of his departure, Udoka stated that he has made amends with all the important people he disappointed during his final months as Celtics coach.
