Celtics’ Pritchard Playing Through Left Pinky Injury, Returns After Portland Tweak

The guard has kept his starter workload despite the sore finger.

Overview

  • Pritchard said the left pinky issue began around the Dec. 28 road game against Portland and he has managed it since.
  • He appeared to re-aggravate the finger late in Monday’s 102-94 win when his hand collided with Donovan Clingan, briefly exiting before returning for the final 41.5 seconds.
  • The injury is on his non-shooting hand and has not appeared on Boston’s official injury report.
  • He led the Celtics with 23 points against the Blazers, making five three-pointers and hitting two end-of-quarter buzzer-beaters.
  • Elevated to the starting lineup after Jrue Holiday was traded to Portland, he is averaging 16.8 points and 5.3 assists with one of the NBA’s best assist-to-turnover ratios.
