Overview

  • At least four people, including three security officers, were killed in renewed sectarian fighting around Tal Hadid in Sweida province on August 3, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.
  • Government-affiliated militias and the Kurdish-led SDF exchanged fire near Manbij and Deir Hafer over the weekend, wounding several soldiers and civilians, according to Syrian Defense Ministry and SDF statements.
  • The SDF said Damascus-linked factions launched a pre-dawn assault on four of its positions in Al-Imam village on August 4, triggering a 20-minute clash and vows to respond to further attacks.
  • Israeli forces conducted a ground operation in Quneitra province overnight, detaining suspects in Hader village over alleged weapons trafficking and seizing arms in four separate raids.
  • Since overthrowing Bashar al-Assad in December, President Ahmad al-Sharaa’s interim administration has struggled to enforce fragile ceasefires and integrate rival militias, leaving key regions beyond its effective control.
