- SSPDS, which released the figures Tuesday, said lethal violent crimes fell to 140 in March, down from 254 a year earlier, the lowest monthly level since the state began tracking the series in 2009.
- Fortaleza led the decline with 27 deaths in March, a 64.5% drop from the prior year, outpacing other regions in the state.
- In the first quarter, statewide lethal deaths fell 35.3% from a year earlier, while Fortaleza recorded a 58% decline over January to March.
- During the Easter holiday, authorities counted 10 lethal crimes statewide, down from 24 in 2025, in what the SSPDS called the least violent Easter period in 17 years.
