CDMX Metro Slows Service as Heavy Rains Trigger Safety Marches

The measures reduce train speed to lower the risk of slips or electrical faults on wet tracks.

Overview

  • The Metro activated safety marches on Wednesday, Sept. 30, cutting train speeds on multiple lines to reduce hazards from rain on tracks and overhead systems.
  • A rescue on Line 2 on Sept. 30 briefly halted service before trains were cleared to run again, but Zócalo/Tenochtitlan station remains closed to the public.
  • Operational reports and newsroom updates say up to nine of 12 lines have moved more slowly at times, producing typical delays of about 7 to 10 minutes for affected routes.
  • STC Metro deployed extra staff for passenger dosification and maintenance brigades, and officials urged riders to use Metrobús, RTP, Trolebús or ECOBICI as alternatives.
  • In Mendoza, the Metrotranvía was suspended for repairs to its electrical feed and later resumed service with delays after crews fixed the fault.
