CDMX Metro Sets Special Line 9 Operation for Mexico City Grand Prix Weekend

Officials will stage added security at stations serving the Autódromo to manage race‑weekend crowds.

Overview

  • The STC Metro, in coordination with SSC CDMX, will deploy extra security and support staff on Line 9 from October 24 to 26, focusing on Velódromo, Ciudad Deportiva and Puebla stations near the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
  • Line 9 is positioned as a primary access route due to its connections at Tacubaya (L7), Centro Médico (L3), Chabacano (L2 and L8), Jamaica (L4) and Pantitlán (L1, L5 and LA).
  • Metro reports show 5–6 minute train intervals across most lines today, though users note gaps up to about 10 minutes on Line 12 around Tláhuac and delays on Lines 5, 8 and 9; Line 1 remains in partial service for modernization.
  • Metrobús reports an intervention with Xola station on Line 2 closed today in both directions, while the rest of the network operates regularly.
  • Authorities remind riders of Sunday service hours from 7:00 to 24:00 for race day, urge trip planning and adherence to platform and door rules, and note speed reductions during rain under the ‘marcha de seguridad’ protocol.
