Overview

  • The Mi Beca para Empezar program will deposit tiered grants—970 pesos for preschool and 1,100 pesos for primary—into beneficiaries’ cards beginning August 15.
  • Secondary students must collect a new “Uniformes y Útiles Escolares” card that replaces blocked Mi Beca para Empezar cards, with pickup windows reported between August 13–16 and August 18–September 16.
  • Beneficiaries need active enrollment in Mi Beca para Empezar and updated Llave CDMX records before June 30 to qualify, with the Obtén Más app and Fibien portal used to check balances.
  • The SEP and Profeco are hosting 41 back-to-school fairs across the country, including an Expo Reforma event on August 16, to monitor prices and offer discounts through August 31.
  • Families report school-supply inflation of up to 50% over six years and are coping by saving early, using credit plans, bulk buying and shopping in informal markets.
