CCEA Approves Rs 8,307.74-Crore, 110.875-km Capital Region Ring Road in Odisha

The six-lane access-controlled corridor targets the Rameshwar-Tangi bottleneck by routing heavy trucks away from core urban areas.

Overview

  • The project will be executed on Hybrid Annuity Mode, following approval by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • The alignment links NH-55, NH-57, NH-655 and SH-65 to provide seamless connectivity across the region.
  • Connectivity is planned to 10 economic nodes, 4 social nodes and 5 logistics nodes with links to one major railway station, one airport, a proposed multi-modal logistics park and two major ports.
  • Officials say the corridor will divert heavy commercial vehicles from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Khordha to cut logistics costs and improve freight efficiency.
  • Construction is projected to generate about 74.43 lakh person-days of direct work and 93.04 lakh person-days of indirect employment.
