Overview
- Following Thursday’s webinar at CBSE headquarters in Dwarka, the board posted the full 2026–27 curricula for Classes 9–12 and asked schools to start training, timetables and assessment planning.
- The language framework now uses R1, R2 and R3 levels, with a third language compulsory from Class 6 in 2026–27 and assessment extending through Class 10 by 2030–31.
- Class 10 board exams will assess two languages at R1 and R2 in 2028, with three separate language papers beginning for the cohort that reaches Class 10 in 2031.
- From 2026–27 in Class 9, mathematics and science add an optional one‑hour, 25‑mark advanced paper on top of a common 80‑mark exam, and the first Class 10 boards to use this structure are set for 2028.
- Computational Thinking and Artificial Intelligence become mandatory in Class 9 from 2027–28 with board assessment from 2029, while art, physical education and vocational studies are compulsory with NCERT saying most Class 9 textbooks should reach schools by April 10–15.
