CBSE Uncovers Dummy Enrolments in Surprise Inspections of 15 Schools

Officials will review committee reports before imposing stringent penalties to deter non-attending enrolment practices

Overview

  • Fifteen teams of CBSE officers and affiliated school principals conducted synchronized inspections across Delhi, Chandigarh, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal
  • The operation aimed to verify adherence to board bye-laws on student attendance and required academic and physical infrastructure
  • CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta confirmed that many schools were found to have enrolled dummy students who skip regular classes
  • The inspections follow earlier disaffiliations for attendance violations and precede a forthcoming ban on dummy-school students in Class 12 board exams
  • After reviewing the inspection committee reports, the board will enforce strict actions against institutions that breach its enrolment and infrastructure norms
