CBSE Tightens Class 10 Exams With Mandatory Sectioned Answers and Zero-Marks Rule

CBSE is directing schools to drill students on sectioned answer books to prevent unevaluated responses.

Overview

  • Science papers will be split into Biology (Section A), Chemistry (Section B) and Physics (Section C), while Social Science will have History (A), Geography (B), Political Science (C) and Economics (D).
  • Students must divide and label their answer booklets to match the paper sections and write responses only within the designated spaces.
  • Answers written in the wrong section or mixed across sections will not be evaluated and will receive no marks.
  • Such placement errors will not be addressed during verification or re-evaluation after results, as the evaluation scheme is final.
  • CBSE has posted sample papers and marking schemes on its academic website and has released the 2026 datesheet, with exams starting February 17 and Class 10 concluding March 10.
