Overview
- Students must log at least 75% attendance to sit Class 10 and 12 boards, with up to 25% condonation only for documented medical, bereavement or national‑level events.
- Internal assessment is compulsory and continuous over two years; without these records, results will not be declared and candidates will be placed in the Essential Repeat category.
- Class 10 may include up to two additional subjects and Class 12 one, but each must be studied for two years and only at CBSE‑authorised schools with required teachers and labs.
- From 2026, private candidates cannot pick new additional subjects; only those who earlier offered an additional subject and are in Compartment or Essential Repeat may appear, prompting student backlash as CBSE points to NIOS for flexible alternatives.
- Under the two‑exam Class 10 model, special exams for sports and Olympiad clashes run only with the May 2026 cycle, Class 12 resits follow the main cycle, and schools must complete Pariksha Sangam registrations and LOC submissions ahead of late‑September and December SOP deadlines.
