CBSE Ties School Affiliation to Mandatory Audio-Visual CCTV Installation

  • Circular mandates high-resolution audio-visual CCTV at all key campus locations—entry and exit points, corridors, classrooms, labs, libraries, canteens, store rooms, playgrounds and other shared areas—excluding toilets
  • Systems must retain a minimum of 15 days of footage with accessible backups for review by authorities
  • Full compliance with the amended Chapter 4 affiliation bye-laws is required for schools to maintain CBSE affiliation
  • Directive aligns CBSE rules with the NCPCR’s Manual on Safety and Security of Children to protect students from physical, emotional and environmental threats
  • Enhanced surveillance aims to deter bullying and implicit threats while enabling early detection of student welfare issues
