CBSE Sets September Deadline for Mandatory Clean, Green School Ratings

A dedicated SHVR portal guides schools through a 60-indicator survey to prioritize sustainable environmental practices alongside inclusive sanitation.

Overview

  • CBSE’s Swachh Evam Harit Vidyalaya Rating 2025-26 requires every UDISE-coded and CBSE-affiliated school to undergo a 60-indicator evaluation.
  • Schools must complete digital self-assessments via the new portal or mobile app by September 30, 2025, with submissions already under way.
  • The evaluation framework covers water availability, toilets, handwashing with soap, operation and maintenance, behaviour change and Mission LiFE activities.
  • District-level reviews will nominate eight schools for state-level recognition, leading to 200 national certificates of merit across rural and urban categories.
  • Launched by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the programme builds on the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar by integrating digital tools and broader environmental goals.
