CBSE Sets Sept. 30 LOC Deadline, Makes APAAR Mandatory for 2026 Board Exams

Principals are made directly accountable for error-free entries to avoid students losing exam eligibility.

Overview

  • Final LOC submissions for Class 10 (first exam) and Class 12 are due by September 30, and CBSE warns that unlisted students cannot sit the exams and that errors or delays may lead to withheld results.
  • The new two-exam Class 10 system begins this session, with a mandatory main examination in mid-February 2026 requiring LOC coverage for all students and a second exam with LOC to follow later.
  • Direct admissions and subject-change requests must be completed by August 31, forwarded to regional offices by September 2, and approved by September 15, with a two-day exception for government-transfer cases.
  • APAAR IDs are compulsory for LOC entries for students in India in Classes 10 and 12, foreign schools are exempt, and a dedicated CWSN portal has been launched to upload records for exam accommodations.
  • CBSE is expanding capacity with new regional offices in Lucknow, Gurugram, Ranchi and Raipur from September 1, plus sub-regional offices in Agartala, Itanagar and Gangtok under the Guwahati region to process cases.
