Overview

  • Circular No. Acad-45/2025 directs all CBSE-affiliated schools to install digital or static ‘Oil Boards’ in cafeterias, lobbies and other common areas to highlight the risks of excessive oil consumption.
  • Schools have begun receiving prototype designs and access to IEC materials on FSSAI’s YouTube channel, allowing campuses to customise and install displays this week.
  • The board also mandates printing brief health messages on official stationery and calls for canteens to boost fruits, vegetables and low-fat foods while limiting sugary drinks and fried snacks.
  • To counter sedentary lifestyles, schools must encourage stair use, schedule short exercise breaks between classes and establish safe walking routes on campus.
  • This campaign builds on the earlier ‘Sugar Boards’ initiative and cites NFHS-5 data and The Lancet GBD 2025 projections that show obesity rising among Indian children and adults.
