Overview
- Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurated the new facility on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, and used the launch to press for replacing rote, marks-driven teaching with hands-on learning.
- The centre occupies about 6,000 square feet and is laid out across 12 zones with 21 exhibits that include a short film on India’s education journey and CBSE archival records dating to 1935.
- Visitors can engage with holograms of national figures, AI tools that generate avatars and art, AR/VR walks through ancient civilizations, and a multisensory final attraction called the ‘Eduverse’.
- Officials framed the opening as an operational step under the National Education Policy 2020 and Joshi said the government will scale practical infrastructure by adding 50,000 Atal Tinkering Labs to the roughly 10,000 already running.
- CBSE said the centre includes career-explorer kiosks, exam-wellbeing exhibits tied to outreach like ‘Exam Warriors’, and RFID-enabled smart cards to personalise activities, a design meant to help students build confidence and explore options beyond exam scores.
