CBSE Ends Physical Migration Certificates, Moves Class 10 and 12 Issuance to DigiLocker

The board cites UGC-backed acceptance of DigiLocker records as the basis for a free, digital-only shift.

Overview

  • Digitally signed migration certificates will be uploaded to students’ DigiLocker accounts after results are declared and can be downloaded at no cost.
  • Higher education institutions have been directed by the UGC to accept documents available on the National Academic Depository and DigiLocker as legally valid.
  • Schools will distribute six-digit activation codes that students must use to enable access to their DigiLocker accounts.
  • Students who require a printed copy during the transition can apply through CBSE’s Duplicate Academic Document System portal for verification and dispatch.
  • CBSE cites low demand for hard copies, noting that only 38,386 of 1,704,367 Class 12 students—about 2.2%—requested a physical certificate.
