Overview
- Under the revised bye-laws, each school’s maximum sections are now tied to its certified built-up carpet area, replacing earlier land-based limits
- Secondary (classes IX–X) and senior secondary (XI–XII) sections must each account for no more than one-quarter of the total sections from Bal Vatikato through Class X
- All existing and newly affiliated schools must meet stricter infrastructure standards, including mandated laboratory sizes, libraries, infirmaries and multipurpose halls, with extra requirements for institutions running over 48 sections
- Nursery and elementary sections are required to comply with Model Building Bye-Laws 2016 and local fire-safety norms following a Supreme Court directive
- The revisions took effect on July 31, with exemptions for foreign-affiliated and regular-category schools
