CBSA Officers Intercept 197-Kilogram Cocaine Shipment at Blue Water Bridge

  • On July 23, CBSA officers at the Blue Water Bridge uncovered seven duffel bags containing 197 kilograms of suspected cocaine valued at $24.6 million.
  • The driver, 29-year-old Onkar Kalsi of Caledon, Ontario, was arrested and charged by the RCMP with importation and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
  • This haul is the largest single seizure at the crossing and raises year-to-date cocaine interceptions to more than 1,678 kilograms.
  • Border agents have relied on intelligence-led secondary inspections, canine units and non-intrusive detection technology to disrupt transnational smuggling.
