Overview

  • On July 23, a secondary inspection of a commercial truck at the Blue Water Bridge yielded 197 kg of suspected cocaine valued at CA$24.6 million, leading to the arrest of driver Onkar Kalsi on importation and trafficking charges.
  • In early August, a traveller arriving from Jamaica was arrested at a GTA airport after CBSA officers found 18 kg of cocaine hidden inside processed cheese cans with an estimated street value exceeding CA$2 million.
  • Since January 1, CBSA and RCMP collaborations have intercepted a total of 1,164 kg of U.S.-origin cocaine and 514 kg from other countries at Canadian land and air entry points.
  • Authorities attribute these record busts to intelligence-driven risk profiling and targeted secondary examinations aimed at disrupting sophisticated transnational smuggling networks.
  • Both investigations remain active as CBSA continues heightened screenings at key crossings to identify evolving concealment methods.
