CBS Unveils First Look at 'Beyond the Gates,' First Black Daytime Soap in 35 Years

Set to premiere on February 24, the series explores the lives of a powerful Black family in an affluent Maryland community.

Beyond the Gates is the first Black-led daytime soap opera since 1991's Generations and the first new soap on a major network since 1999.
The show follows the Dupree family, a wealthy and influential Black family living in the luxurious gated community of Fairmont Crest near Washington, D.C.
The series is a collaboration between CBS Studios, the NAACP, and P&G Studios, aiming to provide impactful representation and highlight Black culture.
Michele Val Jean, a veteran of General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful, serves as the series' creator, writer, and showrunner.
The cast includes Clifton Davis, Tamara Tunie, Daphnee Duplaix, and Karla Mosley, with production beginning in November and airing weekdays at 2 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
