CBP Reports Nearly 10,000 Pounds of Narcotics Seized at San Diego-Area Ports in August

- San Diego Field Office tallied about $24 million in narcotics seized across at least 155 incidents last month, along with more than $340,000 in unreported cash.
- Officers at the Otay Mesa cargo facility on Aug. 27 found 1,352 pounds of methamphetamine concealed in wooden furniture and canceled the 36-year-old driver’s visa.
- At Tecate on Aug. 28, officers intercepted 556 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in barrels of jalapeño paste and canceled the 32-year-old driver’s visa.
- CBP officers at Calexico on Aug. 13 discovered 241 pounds of methamphetamine inside a commercial bus’s fuel tank and took the driver into custody pending trial.
- At San Ysidro on Aug. 19, a K-9 alert and scan led to 25 packages of heroin and 61 packages of methamphetamine totaling 120 pounds, with the driver arrested and the vehicle seized.
