• CBP agents at Tampa International Airport discovered a foil‑wrapped duffel containing what looked like a skull and other small bones during a luggage inspection last week.
• The traveler had declared 10 cigars before inspection and then told officials the items were for rituals, according to CBP’s director of field operations.
• CBP said the materials posed serious health risks and were seized and destroyed, and images of the items were posted on X by the field office director.
• Agriculture specialists also found prohibited plants and additional undeclared cigars among the traveler’s belongings.
• Authorities have not confirmed the authenticity of the remains or released the traveler’s identity, origin or destination, and the matter has been referred to DHS for investigation.
