CBI Uncovers Evidence Tampering in RG Kar Rape-Murder Case

Former principal and police officer accused of falsifying records and delaying investigation into junior doctor's death.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) revealed that false records were created and altered at Tala police station in connection with the RG Kar rape-murder case.
Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, and Abhijit Mondal, the officer-in-charge of Tala police station, have been accused of tampering evidence and delaying the registration of the FIR.
CCTV footage and mobile phones have been seized and sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis, with the CBI expecting reports soon.
The prime suspect, Sanjay Roy, was arrested shortly after the incident, but there was a significant delay in seizing his belongings, which could have provided crucial evidence.
The case has led to widespread protests by junior doctors and civil society, with allegations of a cover-up by Kolkata police and demands for justice from the victim's family.
