CBI Summons Vijay for Second Round of Questioning in Karur Stampede Probe

Investigators are zeroing in on crowd-control decisions under a panel led by retired judge Ajay Rastogi.

Vijay flew to New Delhi on a chartered aircraft for the fresh appearance, according to PTI.
The CBI is reviewing crowd-control plans, venue permissions, Vijay’s claim of being denied a larger venue, and reports of a seven-hour arrival delay.
During his January 12 examination, Vijay faced over six hours of questioning on who organised the event, his prior knowledge, efforts to manage the crowd, and alerts from local officials.
Senior TVK figures Bussi Anand, Adhav Arjuna, Nirmal Kumar, and Karur district secretary Mathiyazhagan have already been questioned.
The September 27, 2025 rally in Karur left 41 dead and over 60 injured, and police registered cases against multiple TVK leaders under provisions including culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
