CBI SIT Finds ₹250 Crore in Fake Ghee Supplied to TTD Over Five Years

Investigators say chemicals were used to mimic test values, allowing deliveries to pass as pure.

Overview

  • The CBI-led SIT reports that Bhole Baba Organic Dairy and associated units delivered about 68 lakh kg of adulterated ghee to TTD between 2019 and 2024.
  • The remand report says the supplier procured no milk or butter, fabricated procurement records, and manufactured synthetic ghee using palm oils, hydrogenated fats, beta-carotene and "ghee essence."
  • Investigators allege the use of acetic-acid esters and monodiglycerides to inflate the Reichert-Meissl value, with about ₹7 crore of acetic-acid ester purchases traced to 2022–2024.
  • Despite being blacklisted in 2022, supplies allegedly continued through proxy dairies including Vyshnavi Dairy, Mal Ganga Dairy and AR Dairy Foods using falsified documentation.
  • A recent filing describes rejected stock allegedly re-routed and relabeled via Vyshnavi Dairy in 2024 before being used for laddu preparation, as the probe advances with Ajay Kumar Sugandh under arrest.
