CBI Reports 2025 Surge in Interpol Notices as Processing Time Shrinks to Three Months

  • In the first nine months of 2025, India published 189 Interpol notices—79 Red and 110 Blue—up from 96 total notices in 2024.
  • Average time to send proposals for publication has fallen from 14 months to about three months, with only eight proposals currently under process and the oldest one month old.
  • Interpol has issued 957 Red Notices tied to India, including 231 linked to CBI cases, 130 to NIA, 21 to ED, 12 to NCB, and the remainder to state police forces.
  • The Red Notices span 254 terrorism-related cases, 199 economic offences, 21 money-laundering matters, 55 narcotics cases, and other serious crimes.
  • India reports 29 successful extraditions in 2023, 30 in 2024, and 35 so far in 2025, while 338 extradition requests remain pending and officials convened a two-day conference to strengthen strategies for locating and returning fugitives.
