Overview

• Nitesh Kumar Singh (Garrison Engineer), Rakesh Sahu (Assistant Garrison Engineer), Deepak (Junior Engineer) of MES Sagar, and middleman Rajesh Mishra were arrested in Madhya Pradesh.
• CBI laid a trap and caught the four accepting Rs 80,000 after the alleged demand was negotiated down from about Rs 1 lakh.
• The bribe was purportedly sought to make the contract site available for repair and maintenance work awarded to the firm.
• A case was registered under Sections 7 and 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for criminal conspiracy.
• Searches at office and residential premises recovered incriminating documents, and the accused were produced before the Special CBI Judge in Jabalpur for remand.
