CBI inks MoU with India Post to dispatch summons and legal notices via Speed Post

The move is designed to slash travel costs by automating legal notice delivery through India Post’s trackable Speed Post network

Overview

  • On May 29, the CBI’s Banking Security & Fraud and Anti-Corruption branches in Bengaluru signed an MoU with the Karnataka Circle of the Department of Posts for Speed Post dispatch of summons and legal notices
  • India Post will supply customized CBI-branded envelopes and Proof of Delivery cards that postal staff will return after delivery confirmation
  • Centralized booking through Bengaluru’s R.T. Nagar head post office includes daily parcel pickups and nationwide support for handling returns
  • Speed Post deliveries are scheduled to reach recipients within one to five days, with provisions for re-delivery and free return of undelivered items
  • By replacing manual staff delivery, the partnership is expected to cut travel allowances, free up investigative manpower and enhance transparency, especially in rural and remote areas
